For what the public did not know was that in order to be professional, journalists had to ensure that news and opinion were dominated by official sources, and that has not changed.
If I'm understanding this guy, I disagree. It might be necessary to propagate such loaded information in order to be $u¢¢e$$ful, but it doesn't take being a liar or a collaborator to be a professional journalist.
