No, I think there are a lot more out there who think the way I do.

people who work for contractors have to stay if they want to keep a job and not be rail road-ed right out of a job in Iraq just as a soldier has to stay or loses if he/she quits because he/she doesn't want to be there anymore. It is being AWOL whether it be for a private contractor or for the military.

Seems an article was posted a couple of weeks ago which wasn't about young people going AWOL but in the article it said that the military was not prosecuting those who did go AWOL. Funny thing, a person who quits a job in IRAQ is railroaded and a lot of times they cannot find jobs in their field because they are blackballed. Fancy

Lets start with that first line of post. If more people actually thought at all we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. The military does NOT owe them a place on the bus. It is NOT the military's job to provide safety for the private sectors workers, it is the Company's job.

Those in the private sector went there for one reason. Big $$$$$$$. Many told their employers they didn't want to go and they didn't all lose their jobs. To say that they did is ridiculous. If a man choses to take a chance to go to a war zone for money over the future of his family then that is HIS choice. Don't hand me the line that he was forced to do a damned thing.

People are railroaded all the time when they leave a job if they have had major disagreements with management. It is illegal to 'black book' someone but it is still done. If I was fired because I chose not to endanger my life by going into a war zone, I fully believe that if I told any future employer that I felt my family needed me at home, alive and supporting them more than they needed me dead, most would understand.

The young man you speak of Fancy may have not completely told you the entire story. People do NOT often tell much of the 'other side' when they are talking to someone who they can get sympathy from. I don't know this person you speak of and I am guessing you don't know all the minor details either.

AWOL is not a civilian word. It isn't even used in civilian labor verbage. I don't know where you got this idea but it is wrong. AWOL is Absent Without Leave.....strictly military and they ARE going after these guys, just not as agressively as they used to and I think it is because there are so damned many of them.
