I have a friend in the sweet corn business.  They are one of the biggest in NY so they are targeted annually by "Farm Worker advocates even though their workers want nothing to do with the worker's rights advocates.  He and his family have third generation pickers just like he is a third generation grower.  He grew up with his workers.  They played together while their parents were working.  Their workers are paid piece rate.  They make around$10,000/ year.

They only pick a row once (to hard to make a decent wage repicking a row), they also only work 3 months of the year.  It is important to note the term of their employment because these labor activists are notorious for giving the annual pay amount without mentioning that many of these workers only work during the harvest and then go home.  It would be more honest and truthful to note their day rate, which in the case of the sweet corn pickers, is between $100 and $200 per day.

There are workers in every field who are abused or at least think they are.  These activists are Union organizers first.  Their concern for the plight of the poor farm worker is shallow at best.
