Glad my skepticism was warranted. What is most wrong in our media is the lack of verification of facts (or "journalism"). One source - even a blog or commentary site - will run a story and all the rest of the media picks right up on it. There was a story on last week's On The Media on NPR about someone just making UP the most outrageous story they could think of ... just to see if they could get it out there on the media. A major station like WGN in Chicago ran the story, and then the LA Times and the wire services and even the NY Times ran it ... ALL without checking the story because it was totally fabricated. No one COULD have made any phone calls without determining that.
