I happen to believe that you can get good workers by paying a decent wage, offering them good insurance for them and their families, offering them paid vacations, a few days off paid to do personal business that can only be done m/f 8-5, overtime and possibly a couple other perks IF the company can afford to do so. I do not think a corporate jet, a box seat at a stadium, attorneys, adoption help, mortgage assistance and kids days are necessary. The work ethic today is obviously in the pits if it takes all the things on that list to get good help. I don't think it does.

Most companies don't pay a "decent wage" for a "decent days work" anymore.  Insurance isn't what it was back in the 1970's and believe it or not, a company doesn't have to pay you for a vacation even though they have to give you days off, especially in Texas.   I agree with you that the other things in the article are ridicules now.   I know where I work they can't keep decent receptionist at the front counter for more than 4 or 5 months because they don't give raises.    After the so called trial period and at 4 or 5 months, a person walks out when they don't even get a review for their work.  It isn't as if they are required to answer the phone only.  They litterally are given the position of running an office and doing end of day work without even so much as a thank you.
