I really can't argue with that. If Kerry hadn't allowed the entire month of August to be talking points of the swift boaters and would have answered their accusations sooner, rather than sit silent, he may have been elected.
  
If Senator Kerry hadn't made his service the focal point of his campaign and instead talked about why he was better suited to be president than George W Bush, there would have been no swift boaters.

He ran a stupid campaign.
