You know this, how???

The evidence being released now, including 911 calls say that Zimmerman was returning to his vehicle when Martin jumped him, from behind, knocked him to the ground, broke his nose and was on top of him when the shot was fired.

Please provide a link to this telling new evidence. I 've seen no report or heard anything about the 911 call stating Zimmerman was going back to his car.

Zimmerman may have had no reason to follow this young man (I would agree with this), but Martin had no reason to attack him, either.  Zimmerman had every reason to fear for his life and every right to defend himself.

You don't know that Martin attacked him anymore than AP knows the cops wouldn't have approached Martin. Sadly the kid can't defend himself to you or anyone else. That's what's Zimmerman is saying and he's the only one who could gain or lose by that.

If, instead, Zimmerman had punched Martin and knocked him to the ground and was hitting him, I would say that Martin had every right to shoot him.

Kind of a moot point at this stage of the game.

This looks to be a series of unfortunate misunderstandings and actions that lead to a horrible outcome.

Are you kidding me? A series of unfortunate misunderstandings? Oh for the love of Pete, that's sugar coating the crap out of one idiots zeal to play neighborhood Dirty Harry.

People need to think more about how they behave and engage other people.  This does not mean I think that people should have to cower and run and hide and wait for police to come to their rescue.  This should be carefully investigated without the pressure of political and activists hacks passing judgment without all of the facts.  That is the greatest injustice in this case.

People need to use some common sense. First you don't get in your car and pretend to be a patrolman, with a loaded gun in tow.  If someone is in your neighborhood and they look suspicious, call the cops and let them do their work, you don't follow them around and then confront them. If you are stupid enough to do so, you don't get out of your car.

The smear campaign that is being waged against this kid is coming from the very people who don't want anyone to pass judgement on poor, pitiful Zimmerman. It is the most sickening thing. I don't care if this kid got suspended from school for tardiness, an empty bag (that MAY have contained pot) a fight or spitting on the sidewalk, it bears absolutely no relevance to Zimmerman shooting him.  Now in the past week we are being told that the kid attacked Zimmerman. There is only one relevant fact in this whole situation, Zimmerman thought this kid looked suspicious, no reason given, he just looked suspicious, based on that he called the police, then he took it upon HIMSELF, to follow that kid, get out of his car and confront him and the kid got killed. From all accounts the kid was the one scared and in need of defending himself. Unlike most, I never thought this was racially motivated,  I believe it to be a case pure stupidity, recklessness and arrogance on Zimmerman's part. Everything that happened that night was put in to motion by George Zimmerman and I don't give a good God damn how bad George feels now, he will never feel bad enough to ressurect the dead. The blood is on his hands and his alone.
