Okay, a correction, apparently it was in Zimmerman police statement that he was returning to his car when he was jumped.  I was wrong that it was in the 911 tapes.  I will say this, I think this is still unsettled information and will wait for the final investigation to conclude.  The video may not show enough evidence of assault for some, but I have seen my share of fights and know that the next day is when the real effects appear.  I also know that if it had been my son I would be sure he was murdered for no reason.  If it was my son who did the shooting I would be sure that it had to be self defense.  I still think a series of misjudgments and mistaken reactions lead to the death of a young man and the ruining of another man's life. (even if eventually)

I think all of the peripheral characters should take a long look in the mirror.

I have seen my share of broken noses and the effect is immediate and there is quite a bit of blood involved, enough blood that the front of Zimmerman's shirt would have been covered in it.  What was also missing in the tape was the blood from his head, from the claim that he was pushed down, no blood matted hair, no blood on the back of the jacket.  I do not believe that Zimmerman went out that night and planned to kill this kid, I don't think he killed him because he was black. I think he went out that night thinking he was the second coming of Dirty Harry, had a loaded weapon with him and for whatever reason decided this kid looked "suspicious". He then persued that kid, probably thinking he's a kid, I can go ruffle his feathers, scare him and let him know how tough I am as a big time neighborhood watch person. Everything that happened that night was set in motion by Zimmerman, he may be sorry now but there is no escaping the fact that had he not persued Trayvon, harrassed him, got out of his car with the gun, that kid would be alive to day. There are consequences to your actions, this was in no way a self defense action, it was the very definition of manslaughter though. The only racial issue involved, I believe came later and it was with the police chief, the detective and the prosecuting attorney who dismissed this all under the SYG law.
