When the economy of life started to force both parents to get a job, just to put food on the table and shelter etc..we began to lose the concept of family as we knew it at one time in America.
The "Amercian" dream also played a role..what I mean is that the
dream' being sold was pushed by marketing and advertising...we just HAD to have this or that, had to live here not there. etc.
Malls and sprawl certainly helped in changing family dynamics..,but I look to marketing and a false sense of what it means to have 'arrived' as part of it.
