We have no true LEADERS in our government today.
We have a lot of MISLEADING going on but almost none are addressing
major issues with any true solutions.

I believe Gas will go $4 and beyond. There is no going back to $2 per gal gas.

Food will get MUCH more expensive and it has little to do with subsidies.
We transport almost all food and the cost of fuel will determine the price.
Why the hell are we transporting chickens from across the country instead
of supporting local growers? Why do eggs from Indiana end up in New York
and New York eggs end up in Pennsylvania?

Auto makers have done everything they can to keep the NON-efficiency
and high prices of cars as high as possible. My old Ford Festiva got
50MPG for over 10 years and cost only $4,000 when I bought it.
Even the souped up over-teched spiffy hybrids don't get that.
The Festiva is still available in Europe, we just can't buy them in the US. WHY!!!??

Somewhere I read that 40%of fuel consumption in this country is for heating
and cooling homes. WHY haven't we upgraded our building codes to add
and extra 2" of insulation? Going from R12 to R19 would save COUNTLESS
BILLIONS of dollars over the next decade alone, and reduce our reliance on
foreign oil. Can anyone say NATIONAL SECURITY?
Those same building codes should include simple basic passive solar
building design as well. In my area that means larger windows to the south,
smaller or less windows to the north, (double insulated windows only),
and 18" overhang of roof to shade in the hot summers.
That's it the bare minimum!

It seems Americans want to continue on the path of consumer glut that we
have been in the last few decades and we don't want to pay for it or conserve.
Creating more high tech answers is not the solution for DECADES to come.
Subsidies and tossing more money out the window are not the answers.
(if you haven't noticed the dollar isn't worth squat today)
Using what we have efficiently is the ANSWER today!

QUIT exporting jobs and production overseas, QUIT NAFTA!

Many currently in the KRUNCH do not have the finances to improve their situation
and unless we start SCREAMING for solutions NOW, many more will follow you.

That is my 2 cents .....
