In any event, I have his number. If he wants to debate cogently we can do that. If not, then he will have to find another playground.
If I had some idea of what the actual rule is here, it would be a lot easier to "debate cogently", but it seems to be flexible depending on who says something rather than what is said. Aside from a couple of early faux pas statements, for which I apologized, I have not attacked anyone personally. I have not called anyone names. The major complaint seems to be that I'm "more full of shit than a Christmas goose" and an "asshole". So please forgive my confusion. Attempting to be polite and respectful earns me a rebuke and the intense dislike of some members, while vile name-calling, cursing, and insinuations that I am dishonest doesn't seem to disturb anyone.
I knew when I admitted that many people with differing views, that at least one of them wouldn't be a fit here. We will see.
I'm beginning to suspect I will not be a good fit here, but will give it a bit more time. I don't mind sparring with people who dislike me, but when I am attacked and then blamed for that attack, it becomes irritating. I get that most of the people here don't want to have their ideas challenged. They are quite comfortable in their beliefs and wallow in their hatred of conservatives. I also understand that these are tough times for Democrats. They are saddled with the worst president in history. They fear they are about to experience a drubbing even worse than '92.  They have drunk deeply of the Obama brand of Kool-Aid and, like the monkey trapped by a nut in a small mouth jar, they don't know how to let go. It's not easy to see Utopia slip through the fingers. Naturally anyone who challenges the wisdom of clinging to that nut is going to earn some enemies.

Also, I'm not going to call any names, but an old and trusted friend came here after me and attempted to poison the well, so I have to think whether I want to continue to have that person as a friend and be a part of the board where that friend is a member. We shall see.
