Wine: >>"Many movies depict the 'call to prayer' as the 'call to jihad'.."<<
jihad has a very very different meaning today than what was it's original and main intent.
In most all Islam the term Jihad is the 'struggle between good and evil" and that struggle was
directed within. ie the evil within oneself that stops us from perfection.
Christians call it 'sin' and need absolution from a cleric, whereas Islam claims it an inner struggle and
can only be absolved directly with god/allah.

So in essence the call to prayer is the call to jihad... but not the western or fundamentalits interpertation
of jihad. (holy war)

I have been doing a bit of reading/study myself over the last year. Reading all sides as much as
is possible. I am definitely not a convert to anything but I do see some really beautiful things in Islam
that I never knew before. Islam is as diverse as Christianity in it's history and expression.

AP: I agree completely! well said.
