For some of the liberals, there doubtless WAS a thought of breaking the color barrier, of making history. For some of the Democratic rank and file, racism DID play a role. You did know that Obama barely - and I do mean barely - won the Kentucky Democratic primary this year ... despite the fact that his "opponent" was a white convicted felon in prison? Look it up. As a Kentuckian, I am sadly by no means certain that this was because of the superior political philosophy of this unknown inmate.
