I go to evangelical churches believe it or not some never mention politics...

In what was essentially a pre-emptive strike, the evangelical movement did two things that created intolerance:

Conservative Christians didn't turn to politics because they were egged on by wild-eyed Dominionists. They were goaded into defensive action by the post-sixties secularist challenge to their way of life. Christians would have taken up politics whether a silly Dominionist fringe existed or not. In fact, Dominionism itself is nothing but a hapless and hopeless response to the secular social changes of the past forty years. But the Left has decided that it's in their interest to buy into the Dominionists' own bogus and pathetic claims of influence - and to exaggerate even those bogus claims beyond recognition.

My evangelical church has never delved into politics in any way, shape or form. In fact, they refuse to inject politics and the messages that are preached conform to bible, period. Which, for anyone who bothers to accept the teachings of the bible, is against anything and everything the conservatives push for and do... Amazing how blind some people are. The problem isn't the leadership of the politicized churches in question, it's the flock who allows that leadership to corrupt the true message and meaning. The only leaders who bear any responsibility, IMHO, are those who ignore the radicals of religion.

Even in the face of a loud and persistent drone by some of our members who fall into the realm of the asses who corrupt and reject the true teachings, these same people will sit in church, nod their heads and take notes and within moments of leaving church, fall into the shrieking masses of false Christians... and the cycle repeats each and every week.

In fact, our evangelical church won't even pontificate on the local political issues such as a planned parenthood center that opened here and has caused a fucking FIT among those believe abortion to be murder but war and killing, justified. The only mention of that subject, which fill the newspapers and airwaves locally here, was when our Pastor said he had received a large amount of phone calls and e-mail about what the churches stance was... his answer was very proper and to the point. The church is on the side of life. But for some, this only applies to abortion or if one of their own is murdered...

So once again, I claim that the radical fringes of religion are ignored by the mainstream. Which is sad because they should be called on the carpet and given the same treatment that Satan gets... since they are the true representatives of Satan on earth.
