The trouble with our process is that candidates are selected in primaries - in which only the most committed of the base participates. Yes, the vast majority of Americans ARE in the middle ... but they do not vote in the primary, just the general elections by and large. So they get to choose (on each side) a candidate selected by the most extreme.


Just a thought. Of course, the Republican Party has moved far to the right of almost any other goverment on Earth, and the Democratic Party has moved so far rightward following them that even the most left Democrat is fairly centrist. I WISH that Dennis the K had a prayer, but there are just so few liberals left.....
