I say, the best thing this nation could do is vote Rudy as President. And let him make Duncan Hunter his VP.

Let the nation have four years of more conservative policies.

I remember the day that it happened. I remember where I was; a lonely stretch of highway between Superior, Wisconsin and Ironwood in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. And I remember too, my first thought. My first thought when the voice coming across the car radio said that the president would be returning to DC in the middle of the night, like a thief, so that he could sign the legislation. My first thought was, "This is it! This is the end of the Republican Party's dominance."

I could sense it coming long before it happened. It had been building inside the Republicans like the white hot desire that builds in a fourteen-year-old boy who has, for the very first time, stumbled upon his dad's stash of Playboy magazines. The Bush-Frist-DeLay Republicans had convinced themselves that they were invincible and that they had finally -- Sweet Baby Jesus ... FINALLY -- managed to completely con the American people into going along with anything and everything that the Republicans did or said.

And there they were.... Bill Frist viewed the videotape of an obviously vegetative woman and, in the name of Jesus Christ, declared her to be on the verge of leaping out of the hospital bed and competing in the Olympics. Tom DeLay gathered up James Dobson's evangelicals and insisted that he would defend the vegetative-soon-to-be-Olympian's "dignity" in the name of Jesus Christ. Jeb Bush said that he, in the name of Jesus Christ, would order Florida's State Police to the woman's bedside to defend her against any that dared honor her wish to die with dignity. The Republican-led Congress had, in the name of Jesus Christ, passed special legislation to prolong the woman's pain and suffering and George W. Bush -- who had never cut a vacation short ... not even when warned of impending attacks -- was going to fly back to the nation's capital in the middle of the night so that he could sign the bill into law ... of course, in the name of Jesus Christ.

And the moment that I heard what was happening; I knew it was all over for the Republicans. Their false pride and arrogance had finally caused the Bush-Frist-DeLay Republican Party to expose their true nature. In order to score the political points that they had hoped to score at the expense of prolonging Terri Schiavo's suffering, the Republicans needed to layout their ideology sans the usual smoke, mirrors, lies, and deception. They did ... and the nation, for the first time ever, got its first glimpse into the madness, fanaticism and zealotry that had always been driving the Republican Party.

Follow the trail back in time; look at each individual event that chipped away at the Republican Party's dominance, and it will end at the foot of Terri Schiavo's bed. When the people realized that the Bush-Frist-DeLay Republicans were eager to exploit the pain and suffering of a vegetative woman and her entire family, they began to view everything through a very different prism. Suddenly the American people came to see that these Republicans were fully capable of lying the country to war in Iraq. Indeed, Terri Schiavo changed EVERYTHING!

Trace it all back moment-by-moment, day-by-day, event-by-event, and scandal-by-scandal ... and the trail ends at the foot of Terri Schiavo's bed.

Terri Schiavo saved America from itself. A vegetative woman did what no one else had been able to do ... she exposed the Republicans for the frauds and hypocrites that the Party had become. Someday historians will credit her for having saved the Republic.

Terri Schiavo Saved the Republic

Conservatism is a pale horse, and the riders should be called DEATH.
