CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - John Edwards is back on his home turf following his distant third-place finish in New Hampshire.

The Democrat is in South Carolina, the state where he was born, hoping to pump up his White House bid. He took the Democratic primary in the state back in 2004 before signing on as John Kerry's running-mate.

At Clemson University, the former North Carolina senator pitched himself as a native son, telling crowds, "I know what your lives are like."

Edwards is hoping a win, or at least a strong second, at the primary January 26th will reboot his presidential aspirations.

Despite the New Hampshire loss, Edwards says he wants to keep it a three-way race, saying, "Two races down, 48 states left to go." He says he'll stick with it through to the convention.
