They would be considered just other taxes, just like income tax.  You can certainly argue for higher capital gains tax rates and changing the rules for carried interest, if you like.  Just like I can argue to either eliminate the home mortgage bank subsidy or at least make it more progressive.


While we are at it, I would like to eliminate taxes and surcharges placed on certain items to fund other things that have absolutely nothing to do with the item taxed.  An example, what dimwit thought it was fair to tax tobacco products more to fund head start and how does that make any sense at all?
