I do think that companies are responsible for the environmental and social costs of their manufacturing processes ... and, as such, Apple is just as directly responsible for the impact upon those workers and the environment in China as if they were making them in Sacramento California. This is a single globe, a singe atmosphere, populated by a single humanity. Impacts upon anyone anywhere are just as horrifying as if it happened here.

The days in which our concern for our actions ended at the border are, thankfully, drawing to a close. If corporations are to be considered legally as "people", then they need to be held just as responsible before the law for their actions as anyone else. In these days when so many are as concerned - if not more so - for these imagined rights of these corporation "persons", it is time to as be concerned with and insistent upon their responsibilities to us all.
