Except, that is not what this is about.  This is about two people (actually many lore than that) saying essentially the same thing and one is lionized and the other labeled a racist.

The idea that only someone of your race can understand the problems you face or that the color of skin somehow determines the validity of what is in one's character is sad.

By the way, I will agree that Maher should not have said this was another Ryan quote, he should have just said "and another quote".  The assumption would have been that it was from Ryan and the reaction the same without him having to lie.
