We can't just bury our heads in the sand and pretend this won't affect us or our friends around the world. ISIS has currently taken over about half of Syria and a large portion of northern Iraq. Assuming we do nothing and they are successful, Jordan and Lebanon are not going to be far behind.

There is nothing about the ISIS take over of this portion of the Middle East that works out well for the United States. Nothing.

So we can try and do something about them now when they are just getting started or we can dither and wait and the next president, the poor soul, will have to deal with this problem on a much larger and more difficult scale.

As an aside, assuming we do nothing to stop ISIS now, this could take care of the whole Israel/Palestine problem if the Israelis decide it would be better to use their nukes rather than allowing them to fall into radical Islamists' hands.
