I never understood the "they can have personal partnerships" way of thinking. I can understand a Church not wanting to perform the CEREMONY for religious reasons but a marriage license is just a paper that allows them to get married. Denying them this right is wrong. They can then go to a Church that WILL perform the ceremony or to a Judge, Justice of the Peace, Ship's Captain or whomever has the legal authority to do the actual ceremony. There is a huge difference in a marriage license and the actual ceremony. If you are hired to do a job such as issue these license's, then to refuse to do your job is grounds to be fired and they should be fired. I cannot wait tables in a restaurant and refuse to serve a customer because they are black, brown, wear white in the winter. My job is to take their order and serve their food. It isn't my job to eat their food or decide which items to order on the menu.
