I'd have to say that it is ridiculous that we have to pass a law, an amendment or have SCOTUS make a ruling on something that is so simply basic as allowing equality in a country who's founding documents contain things like:

"...secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity..."

and especially

"...We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, ..."


be it voting rights, segregation and now, the ability for one person to legally commit themselves to another.

We can quibble all you want over what to call it or how it's made legal... but you cannot argue that it needed to be done, once and for all... or else everything those documents say is bullshit
