Barb, I am a farmer, not a rancher. At the moment I have a coyote den with four adults within 400 yards of my barns. I like the coyotes because they keep the woodchuck, muskrat and skunk populations in check. I am in the process of encouraging at least some of the adults to move on because there is not enough for them to eat around here. The winter will be hard on them if they don't move.

With that said, wolves are a different animal and defenders likes to sugar coat their story. I had a cattle buyer here with a client the other day. He was from Turkey. He has lost dozens of animals, a truck driver and to wranglers to wolves in just the last years. Ever wonder why they don't reintroduce wolves into San Francisco???
