This story, along with the healthcare propaganda now blanketing the airwaves, well illustrates the problem that the progressive movement now faces. Had, say, a Governor Obama been the one to set this vermin loose, the media machine - both rightwing AND mainstream - would be running flat out night and day to demonize Obama for "causing" the officer's deaths. Similarly, the massive onslaught of advertisements damning the healthcare bill (not that any such bill yet exists in a ratified form) and slamming every congresscritter mercilously by name who even votes to allow the bill to be debated shows the crushing monolithic power of the corporate fascists and shows that NO organization on the left even exists to mobilize money and resources to combat the lies.

As I have so often noted, without such unitary cooperation by the media, the hardright policies that are destroying our families and wiping out our middle class would be impossible to pass. With that cooperation, their passage becomes nearly inevitable. Sadly, I cannot imagine an alternative that could save us now.
