As to Harley's increasing profits vs downturn in sales, IMHO, a lot of it is that most people have bought into the "Harley mystique" and will pay way more to ride a bike with that name, so they'll pay damn near any price to get one (those who are adamant about buying right now).
That said, I think the crux of this whole "we don't make anything here........and........corporate profits are so high" is that they outsource everything to 3rd world countries, pay less labor, etc, then keep the prices way too high.  (See Treb's thread, "The Middle Class in America is Shrinking" thread)  But what can we do, other than stop buying, which people seem to not be able to do? Everyone wants their new Chinese made electronic toy, their name brand Bangladeshi made sneakers, heir India made designer eans or shirts, etc. Just my observations. I sure would like to see a middleclass stay (I are one) but I don't see things changing soon, and it isn't Obama's fault.I don't think this problm is ALL due to one party or the other.
