"I don't understand." g7

That's why I posted: "It may seem a tad paradoxical.
But ..." sear

"You say, though, that this nation was FOUNDED on conservatism?!?" g7

No.
I deliberately did NOT say that.
Instead, what I posted was:
"... those that condemn political conservatism condemn the U.S. Constitution, and the principles upon which the U.S. was founded." sear

Back then, as I posted: "The Founders were not patriots. They were treasonous traitors." sear But when we champion the same principles they did, WE are conservatives.
What's the difference? Back then, these were radical ideas.
In 2010, they're centuries old traditions; even though they're THE SAME principles.
See the difference?

The paradox sir is that though political conservatives in the 3rd Millennium may defend and cherish those principles as being conservative, in the 18th Century they were radical ideas, more related to philosophy or at best Poly Sci than manifest sovereignty.
"conservatives the heirs of the aristocracy." g7

I hardly qualify for aristocracy sir. My parents were both Democrats, and fairly sensible, sociable people.
