I didn't get the details. But I heard a radio report about microscopic life forms that live in mud that generate electricity.
There's some question about if they can be genetically engineered to provide useful amounts of electricity.
The example they gave was that it provides enough electricity to run a Christmas tree light, or a buzzer.
But they didn't say that was a thimble-full of mud, or a ten acre plot.
