You're a nice guy.
I don't doubt your sincerity.
But Senatorial advice & consent on such nominees is not an option. They can't just not vote on it if they don't wanna.

And voting no for illegitimate reason is, as you might easily imagine, illegitimate.

Senatorial advice & consent has been of great help to the U.S. in the past.

IIRC it was during the SALT talks (I'm not sure if it was SALT I, or SALT II) the President came up with promising treaty that he tried to railroad through Congress without them even looking it over.
But the Senate DID look it over. And they found some important points the President and his team had missed.
The U.S. administration renegotiated the treaty with the Soviets, taking into account the Senate's input, and the treaty was successful.

But turning Advice & Consent into a partisan cudgel is not merely a dereliction of high office.
It's also a betrayal of the People.
