For more than 4 years I have been caring for a man named Harry. He had Alzheimer's. he was a gift, a pleasure to care for and I was blessed beyond words. I took care of his wife who passed away 2 years ago and the family asked me if I would stay on and help care for him. I said yes immediately. He was a very special man, gentle, kind, bird loving, animal loving, wouldnt hurt a flea kind of man. He was an Army Vet who was at the Nuremburg trials and he has the photos to prove it. Unbelieveable photos of history passing before his eyes. He was an accomplished photographer with so many awards they had to designate an entire room for the. He was an astronomer who could talk for hours about the planets etc.
I will miss Harry, more than I know, I will miss him but I am forever grateful for the opportunity to be around him.
He never had to step foot inside a nursing home. He would have wanted it that way.
Bye Harry, see you tomorrow and try and stay out of trouble. Thats how I always said goodbye. Heavy sigh. Its just life doing what life does.......
