I have followed this campaign with awe, respect and hope. I have campaigned in my fashion for Barack and what I thought he stood for.
I looked the other way when he announced that he was passing up $84 million dollars of taxpayer money to finance his presidential campaign.
I tried hard to justify his approach to Hillary Clintons campaign debt.
Then he voted for the FISA bill, despite misgivings about legal provisions for telecommunications corporations that cooperated with the Bush administration's warrantless surveillance program of suspected terrorists.
Then finally, he grabbed another Bush position and stated that he would strengthen the faith based programs initiated by that administration.
I suppose that was the straw that broke my back.
Apart from my belief that taxes should not go to churches, I believe it blurs the relationship between church and state.
For the first time in decades, I thought I had a real candidate, I am old enough to be able to say that my first vote went to JFK. Not since that vote have I felt this strongly about a candidate, and sadly, he has moved away from me.
I will vot, but at this time, I don't have a candidate any longer.
It is a sad day for me, and for America I believe, since that wonderful ray of hope that was Obama, has dimmed and caved to politics as usual.
If anyone out there can convince me otherwise, my vote has left the camp. Frankly I can't believe it happened to me.
